Thursday Meditation and
Supper:
One of our lovelier traditions is the quiet supper held on the eve of
Good Friday. As did the Christ and the disciples, we break bread
together and contemplate the meaning of his life and death.
Good Friday
Tenebrae Service:
Held for the first time in our church in 2005, this service continues
an ancient tradition using candles to represent the abandonment of
Jesus by his friends and the encroaching threat of death.

Easter Sunrise
Service:
The Church of Universal Fellowship and the Orono United Methodist
Church have held a combined Sunrise Service for many years on the
grounds of the Penobscot Valley Country Club. This beautiful setting,
with its view of the distant hills, is a perfect place to celebrate the
joy of the Resurrection. The Sunrise Service is followed by a
breakfast; the two churches alternate hosting each year.
The
Advent
Workshop
The
Advent workshop is an annual event held
on the first Sunday of December. It is a chance for our church family
to get together for food, fun, and fellowship. After a picnic lunch
following the service, all ages gather to make wreaths, decorate
cookies, sing carols and create various Christmas crafts. We finish up
by decorating the tree in our Gathering Place.

Christmas Eve
Service
This
joyful event is a favorite of children
and grownups alike. The program varies each year, depending on the
talent available, but one can always expect familiar carols, as well as
the familiar faces of sons and daughters returning home for the
holiday. Wassail and cookies follow in the Gathering Place.
