In
Mind
Study Group:
Periodically once a week from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the Library or
MacKenzie Room - sessions are from 6 to 8 weeks long.
Using
either a book we all read or DVDs, we discuss such topics as how to
read the Bible, what the Bible really says about homosexuality, and how
can a loving God allow suffering. Recent studies include "Claiming the
Promise" (a study of homosexuality and the Bible), Reading the
Bible Again for the First Time by Marcus Borg,
and a
DVD series entitled "Living the Questions", a collection of interviews,
speeches, and discussions with prominent modern theologians on such
topics as "thinking theologically" and "the myth of redemptive
violence".
After Church
Discussion: Sundays
at noon in the Library
We discuss various topics such as how we can become a "green" church by
becoming more environmentally aware, what is the meaning of true
Christian hospitality and how to be effective listeners.

Lectionary Bible
Study and Prayer: Thursday evenings at 7:15 (Library)
This
hour is based on the gospel reading for each coming Sunday as set out
in the Revised Common Lectionary. We read the passage from a minimum of
four different translations and primarily use the following discussion
questions:
What word or phrase catches your attention?
What is the message of the passage?
How does the message intersect with your life?
What is God asking us to do?
Each hour ends with lifting up those in
our church family in need of
prayer and thanks for the good things in our lives.
Worship Re-told!
