The
Church of Universal Fellowship, a non-denominational Christian church
in Orono, is seeking a director of choral music.
This individual will direct two adult choral groups, children's music, and two other performances during the church year.
Candidates
should have a degree in a music related field and have had experience teaching
music. Applications will be reviewed beginning August 1 for the position which will start September 7.

Director of Choral Music
Responsibilities
and Requirements:
• Provide choral music
and direct the choir at the Sunday worship service,
select
appropriate choral music for each service, notify church
office
of selections
• Direct
the Choir and Fellowship Singers at Christmas Eve service in consultation with the minister
• Direct
the choir at 1 additional performance during the year.
• Subject
to employee’s availability, provide music for weddings and funerals.
Payment
will be $100 for funerals and $150 for weddings with rehearsal.
• Rehearse
once weekly or as otherwise specified with the Choir and Fellowship
Singers
during the 9 months, from the Sunday after Labor Day until the
Sunday
before Memorial Day and Celebration Sunday (1st Sunday in
June)
• Be an
active member of the multi-staff ministry of the Church
of Universal
Fellowship
that works in an integrated, collaborative style and attend a
regularly
scheduled staff meeting.
• Demonstrate pastoral concern all
members of the Choir, Fellowship Singers
and congregation exemplifying
the religious and inclusive spirit of the
church.
• Meet regularly with the minister to
facilitate collegiality in the music ministry.
• Adapt and integrate a variety of
traditions and styles of choral music (e.g.
ethnic choral music, new hymns,
additional instruments) as appropriate for the services.
• Choose
and direct one additional musical performances during the church year
• Direct
Young Voices to include teaching church school students music related
to curriculum,
singing monthly in worship, and optional Young Voices
performances

Nine months
(September – May)
Hours:
1 hour rehearsal
weekly for Choir
1 hour
rehearsal weekly for Fellowship Singers
3/4 hour rehearsal
Sunday morning
Sunday Worship, Christmas Eve
2 additional special service/performance annually
Weekly work with Young Voices choir with optional special
performances
Term: Permanent
